Santa Clara County (SCC) has the nation's 5th highest homeless population and 4th highest chronically homeless population.
On any given night, over 7,600 individuals in SCC are homeless.
Over 19,000 individuals experience homelessness throughout the year in SCC.
The primary cause of homelessness in SCC is due to loss of job.
There are over 200 encampments along creek beds and other waterways in San Jose alone, where over 1,500 individuals live in unsafe conditions.
Approximately 75% of the homeless in Silicon Valley are not in shelters. This is the highest rate among major cities in the nation.
